Kachmir or leather, depending on configuration

Japanese skiwear brand Goldwin has teamed up with biomaterial manufacturer Spiber to unveil a sweater made from brewed proteins. The material is completely free of animal ingredients and petrochemicals. The biopolymer is made from plant-based biomass in an advanced fermentation process. Depending on the configuration, it produces fibers as soft as cashmere or durable wool with its usual breathable and thermal properties. The process can also produce leather and fur alternatives.
