Smart classroom optimizes instruction

The Academy for College Preparation & Career Exploration in Brooklyn has created a "Literacy Lounge" for students in grades 6-12, equipped with two sensors and a tablet dashboard to improve students' literacy skills. The sensors record how often students* speak, the quality of their conversations, the words they use, and the number of students, but without identifying them. The school can use the data to make informed decisions about how to optimize instruction.
