Robotics - Helpers in everyday life

In the past, we used robots primarily in industrial manufacturing plants. Today, things are different: in almost all areas of life, we make our work easier by using robots. Combined with artificial intelligence, they already perform certain tasks just as well as we do, or even better. The April Trend News provides examples of this.

Robot dogs for border security

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is deploying robotic dogs for border security. The four-legged machines are being tested in a variety of surveillance tasks. They will be used primarily in inhospitable areas that are difficult for humans and animals to access. The robots are being built by robotics manufacturer Ghost Robotics. They can navigate autonomously or be controlled manually. The bots can be equipped with a range of payloads, including thermal imaging and night vision cameras. The robots, equipped with cameras and sensors, autonomously patrol designated GPS waypoints and explore buildings and trains.
