20 Minuten Advertising reacts to market development and lowers print advertising prices

Advertisements in the print newspaper of 20 Minuten will become cheaper at the beginning of 2022. The marketing unit of 20 Minuten, 20 Minuten Advertising, is thus reacting to the declining development of the number of readers - in particular due to the pandemic.

Zurich, December 15, 2021 - 20 Minuten Advertising, the marketing unit of 20 Minuten, is reducing the advertising prices of the 20 Minuten print titles in German- and French-speaking Switzerland as well as the regional editions as of January 1, 2022. For the advertising market, this results in price reductions of up to 23 percent compared to 2019, i.e. before the outbreak of the pandemic, bringing the price per thousand contacts to the same level as 2019. The price adjustment will be implemented at the beginning of 2022 despite a forecast increase in paper prices.

With the print price adjustment, the marketer is responding to the shift in media usage towards digital channels, which has been intensified by the pandemic. Marcel Kohler, Managing Director 20 Minuten: "Print is and will remain important for 20 Minuten. It is just as important for us to be able to offer our customers coherent and competitive prices."

In addition to the further development of digital channels, 20 Minuten continues to focus strategically on print. For example, distribution has been further expanded and optimized with additional newspaper boxes in and around retail outlets. As a commuter newspaper, 20 Minuten remains the most widely read Swiss daily newspaper with around 1.5 million readers and a circulation of almost half a million copies.
