What are the key criteria for successful advertising targets?

In addition to knowing the target group(s), the objective (intention) is the fundamental starting point for any advertising strategy. It ensures that everyone involved is working in the same direction. Without clear objectives, it is impossible to measure the success of advertising measures or to ensure that the chosen tactics and channels are effective. The advertising objectives are the "lighthouse" that ensures that all measures and messages point in a coherent direction. They make it possible to define measurable criteria for success and ensure a clear direction for communication. It is important that the objectives are formulated specifically and clearly. "Increasing brand awareness" is too vague a goal. It would be better to say: "Increase brand awareness by 20% within the next 12 months in the 25-35 age group in Switzerland."

Goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. The SMART-objectives can help.

Specific (Specific): The goal should be clearly and unambiguously formulated so that there is no ambiguity. Who? What? Where? Why?

Measurable (Measurable): A goal should provide quantifiable results so that you can measure progress and ultimate success. With what? When?

Achievable (Achievable): The goals should be challenging but also achievable so as not to reduce motivation and commitment.

Relevant (Relevant): The objective should be in line with other business objectives and have a clear benefit to the organization or individual.

Time-bound (Time-bound): Each goal should have a clear timeframe or end date by which it is to be achieved.
